Martial artist and founder of Aikido. 
Master Ueshiba founded his first Dojo in Tokyo Japan - (1927), which is still in existence today under the name Hombu Dojo. Ueshiba gained national prominence as a skilled martial artist when he defeated an Imperial Navy officer (highly skilled in kendo) in a martial arts match in Tokyo.
